Come Dance with Nature

2-Hour Tour

It’s your boat! No other passengers!  Your party only so you can prepare your food and drink below in the Galley, Play your music on the Ship’s system, Take The Helm, Trim the Sails, or just Lie in the Sun Looking for Dolphins! Cruise down the Folly River by green sea marshes, sea Islands, spectacular views of Atlantic Ocean waves breaking over submerged sand bars, See Nature up close at Bird Cay along the route to The Stono River and The Great Atlantic Ocean!

Dolphins are plentiful and Many times Dolphins will ride the bow wave three feet away and rarely, but sometimes jump completely and spectacularly out of the water near the boat.

The sailing usually perks up on the Stono River near the beach on Kiawah Island. From there, we head out to the Ocean depending on conditions we go out a mile or so and return. No one gets seasick! If the wind is fresh, we have some great sailing on this leg of the tour. It is a great thrill to take the helm of a 15,000 lb boat leaning leeward, the wind filling the sails and carrying us silently through the water.

Three & Four Hour Tours

In addition to sailing a two-hour tour, we have time to anchor our ship near a Beach or Sand Bar for Swimming and Beach Exploring on the Three and Four-hour tours. In the right conditions, we can go to Kiawah Island Beach – it is accessible only by boat, it is secluded with white sand beaches and beautiful views of the Ocean, Bird Key, and Folly Island.

Swim in the surf, lie in the sun, and leisurely enjoy your picnic lunch and then maybe a little beachcombing. We dinghy back to the boat, weigh anchor, and off for more sailing when you are ready.

If you have other ideas in mind, we can customize them to suit.

This past October, I met with 5 friends for a Folly Beach reunion. One of my inspired friends suggested we charter a sailboat, which we enthusiastically agreed to. After a bit of research, we ended up on Captain Jerry Slayton's boat for a two-hour sail. Captain Jerry (who is USCG licensed and ASA certified) provided a short safety orientation and invited us to roam the craft as we pleased. We had the absolutely best time! The Captain was not only a top-notch sailor, he was also a top-notch guy, personable and fun. His sailboat was beautiful, comfortable, and spotless. What a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours. It rained like crazy while we were out, which made for an even more exciting, interesting, and beautiful experience. The six of us highly recommend a sail with Captain Jerry. You will love it!

All I can say is WOW! Captain Jerry was amazing! His boat was immaculate and his sailing knowledge was fantastic. I wanted a nice quiet family day and he did not disappoint! He offered us things to do or see or he gave us an option to anchor and go ashore. I loved all my options and he honestly would have been happy with whatever we wanted to do. He made us feel very welcome and "at home" on his boat. He allowed my son and myself to steer his ship! We saw dolphins and birds and ship wrecks! It was so much fun and I would recommend him to my family and friends!

Capt. Jerry was fantastic! Six adults did a sunset cruise on a couples weekend in Charleston, and I think this was the highlight of our weekend. Awesome views, dolphins at the bow. It was spectacular!
